These are the terms for using windowsweep.
They cover this website, the account and the software, which is two programs: the command line, published on npm as windowsweep, and the desktop app. Using any of them means you accept these terms.
Who runs windowsweep
Ahsan Mahmood, an independent software engineer, runs this website and the account service himself, and he holds the copyright in the software. He sets these terms.

This website
Reading this website, windowsweep.aoneahsan.com, needs no account. Its download links lead to GitHub Releases and to npm, which host the installers and the package under terms of their own.
The account
An account is optional, and neither program needs one: downloading and running them work the same without it. Signing in is Google only, under Google’s own terms. One account covers this website and the desktop app.
To hold an account, you need to be at least the age Google requires to manage your own Google Account in the country where you live. windowsweep asks nothing about your age that Google does not already ask.
You can delete the account from the account page. It happens immediately. It cannot be undone.
What an account stores, what deleting it removes and what stays afterwards are all on the privacy page.
This website and the account service are provided as they are, with no promise that either is available at any given time, and no liability is accepted for data lost from an account.
Plans and payment
From version 1.4.0, the desktop app has three plans: Free, Pro and Team. The pricing page shows what each includes, its price and its limits. Prices and limits can change, and that page always shows the current ones. The command line has no plan and nothing to buy.
When checkout opens, Pro and Team can be bought on the pricing page or on the desktop app’s Plans screen, after signing in with Google. Card payment goes through a checkout run by Polar (polar.sh). Polar is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and issues the receipt, under its own terms.
Once bought, a paid plan is billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renews automatically at the end of each period until it is cancelled. Cancel any time; your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. The account then moves to Free. Cancellation and receipts are handled in Polar’s customer portal.
A paid plan renews at the price it started with until it is cancelled. A new price applies to new purchases.
Deleting the account cancels its paid plan with Polar first, so nothing is charged after the deletion.
While checkout is closed, the pricing page takes a plan request instead of a payment. From version 1.4.0, the desktop Plans screen does too. A request charges nothing and grants nothing.
When checkout opens, the windowsweep team emails a link to pay for each open request, then closes the request.
When checkout opens, Team can be bought per seat, from the minimum number of seats the pricing page shows. The account that buys it owns the team. It can invite members by email and remove them. A removed member loses the team’s plan.
A month of Pro earned through referrals extends any plan already paid for and never shortens one. How many confirmed friends earn a month, and how many months can be earned in any 12 months, are shown on the Plans screen and can change.
An account deliberately used to get around the run limits, or to collect referral rewards through accounts made for that purpose, may be deleted, and its referrals voided.
All purchases are final
Every purchase is final: Pro, Team, each billing period and each seat. windowsweep does not offer a refund, credit or exchange for any of them, including a period only partly used and seats left unused. If a bank or Polar reverses a payment, the plan time that payment covered ends at once, and you are told by email.
The contact form
Sending a message from the contact page needs a signed-in account, so a reply has somewhere to go. Each account can send five messages in any hour. A sixth is refused, and the form says why. An account used to send abuse or spam through the contact form may be deleted.
The software deletes files
The command line and the desktop app both remove files from your disk. A cache they remove has no undo. A personal file you select in section 19 goes to the Recycle Bin, even if you use --permanent on the command line. Other sections can remove selected items permanently. The safety model (opens in a new tab) sets out, tier by tier, what has no undo.
Sections that need administrator rights run only in an elevated session; asking Windows for one goes through its own UAC prompt, which you answer yourself.
Each program has a dry-run. Neither requires one. On the command line it is --dry-run, which lists what the same run would remove and removes none of it. In the desktop app it is the Dry-run first button on the Home screen. npx windowsweep --scan measures what is reclaimable and deletes nothing. No amount of reclaimed space is promised.
Both programs are open source under the MIT licence, whose copyright line reads Copyright (c) 2026 Ahsan Mahmood. Under it they are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Its full text is in the licence file (opens in a new tab), beside the source.
Ahsan Mahmood accepts no liability for data lost through the use of either program.
Analytics, on the privacy page
The privacy page sets out what this website, the desktop app and the command line each send, and lists what is never sent by any of them. These terms add nothing to it.
When these terms change
These terms apply from 31 October 2026. When they change, this page changes and that date moves to the day the new version applies. No email or other notice is sent.
The law that applies
The laws of Pakistan govern these terms. A dispute under them goes to the courts of Pakistan.
