Storage Sense and windowsweep

The option built into Windows Settings that deletes temporary files, empties the Recycle Bin after a time and can make cloud files online-only.

01 / WHO IT SUITS

Which one suits you

Choose Storage Sense if you want nothing to install: temporary files and the Recycle Bin handled by Windows on a schedule, on the system drive.

Choose windowsweep if you want app caches, shader caches, package manager caches, logs and leftover folders covered too, with a report of what each run reclaimed.

“Not stated on the pages we checked” is not a no. The page did not say, so the question is still open, and Storage Sense's own site is where to ask it.

04 / THE OTHER SIDE

What windowsweep does not do

  • windowsweep does not clear tracking cookies today. Cookies, logins, history and Local Storage are left alone in every browser profile, so a tool here that clears them does a job this one does not.
  • The Free plan counts real runs: 15 a month on each machine, and 15 more once you sign in with Google. Dry-runs and scans are never counted, and neither is the command line.
  • It has no undo. A cache it deletes is gone until the program rebuilds it. Only the sections that offer personal files and leftover folders use the Recycle Bin.
  • It runs on Windows 10 (1809 and later) and Windows 11, and on nothing else.
